What is CBD oil?

Cannabis is cultivated for at least 10,000 years. Since ancient times, references to its use in medicine have been found. Cannabis plant was used in medicine in Europe and America until the late 19th century. In the 20th century, because of economic interests, cannabis and hemp began to be discredited as intoxicating.

CBD's popularity in the world reborn day by day, especially among people who are suffering from neuropathic pain, anxiety, depression and epileptic seizures. CBD is an attractive option for those who want to get rid of these symptoms without taking pharmaceutical drugs.

Cannabis has several health-friendly substances. One is CBD, which is one of the cannabidiol compounds. Unlike THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), CBD has no psychotropic properties and does not affect human consciousness as CBD affects other receptors. If the THC excites the nervous system, the CBD soothes it.

The human body has an endocannabinoid system that receives and translates signals from cannabinoids. It also makes cannabinoids, called endocannabinoids. This system helps to regulate functions such as sleep, immune system and pain. A cannabinoid is one of a class of diverse chemical compounds that acts on cannabinoid receptors .

1. Helps to get rid of the pain.

Cannabis sativa has been used for medicinal purposes for centuries.

Researchers have discovered that cannabis, including CBD, is responsible for the analgesic effect.

CBD can help reduce chronic pain by affecting endocannabinoid receptor activity, reducing inflammation, and interacting with neurotransmitters. For example, one study with rats showed that CBD injections reduced the pain response to a surgical incision, while another study in rats revealed that oral CBD treatment definitely reduced sciatic nerve pain and inflammation.

A combination of CBD and THC treats pain associated with multiple sclerosis and arthritis.

2. Can reduce anxiety and depression.

Anxiety and depression are mental disorders that can have a devastating effect on a person's health and well-being.

According to the World Health Organization, depression is one of the biggest mental health problems in the world, but anxiety disorders rank sixth.

Anxiety and depression are usually treated with pharmaceutical drugs that can cause many side effects, including drowsiness, agitation, insomnia, sexual dysfunction and headaches.

People use CBD oil to treat these health problems and people living with these disorders are opting for this natural approach and not pharmaceuticals

In one study, 24 people with social anxiety disorder received either 600 mg CBD or placebo before the public speaking test. Compared to the placebo, the group receiving CBD had much less anxiety, cognitive impairment, and discomfort.

CBD oil is used to treat insomnia and anxiety in children with post-traumatic stress disorder.

CBD has also shown antidepressant-like effects in several animal studies.

These properties relate to the ability of CBD to act on brain receptors that regulate mood and social behavior.

3. May reduce cancer-related symptoms.

CBD can help reduce cancer-related symptoms and cancer-related side effects, such as nausea, vomiting and pain.

A study was conducted looking at the effects of cannabis on people with cancer-related pain who did not receive pain treatment.

Those treated with the extract containing both compounds showed a significant reduction in pain compared to those receiving the THC extract alone.

CBD can also help to reduce nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy, which is one of the most common chemotherapy-related side effects in cancer patients.

There are medications that help to prevent these symptoms, but they are sometimes ineffective and some people are looking for alternatives, such as CBD oil.

In a study of 16 chemotherapy patients, CBD reduced nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy better than standard therapy. Some animal studies have even shown that CBD may have anti-cancer properties.

Another study showed that CBD inhibited the spread of aggressive breast cancer cells in mice.

Although CBD reduces the symptoms associated with cancer and can even cause cancer-fighting properties, we need more research to test its effectiveness and safety.

4. Can reduce acne.

Acne is a common skin disease affecting more than 9% of the world's population.

It is caused by many factors, including genetics, bacteria, excess sebum, oily secretion by the sebaceous glands of the skin.

CBD oil can help treat acne because of its anti-inflammatory properties and its ability to reduce fat production.

5. Neuroprotective effects.

CBD's ability to act in the endocannabinoid system and other brain signaling systems can benefit those with neurological disorders.

In fact, one of the most studied uses for CBD is neurological disorders, such as the treatment of epilepsy and multiple sclerosis. Although research in this area is still new, several studies have shown promising results.

The study provided 214 people with severe epilepsy with 0.9-2.3 grams of CBD oil per pound (2-5 g / kg). Their seizures fell by an average of 36.5%

CBD oil reduced seizure activity in children with Dravet's syndrome, a complex childhood epilepsy disease.

Yet, it is important to note that side effects associated with CBD treatment such as fever and diarrhea were observed in some of these studies.

CBD has also been studied for its potential effectiveness in treating several other neurological diseases. Several studies have shown that CBD treatment improved the quality of life and sleep quality in people with Parkinson's disease.

Also, animal studies have shown that CBD can reduce inflammation and help prevent neurodegeneration associated with Alzheimer's disease.

Although limited during this time, CBD has been shown to effectively treat symptoms associated with epilepsy, Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease.

6. Can improve heart health.

CBD have shown several benefits to the cardiovascular system, including the ability to lower high blood pressure.

Studies show that CBD can be a natural and effective way to treat high blood pressure.

In a recent study, 10 healthy men were treated with a single dose of 600 mg CBD oil and blood pressure lowered.

CBD's stress and anxiety-reducing properties are responsible for its ability to lower blood pressure.

Also, several animal studies have shown that CBD can help reduce heart disease inflammation and cell death due to its potent antioxidant and stress-relieving properties.

Although we need more research, CBD can contribute to heart health in several ways, including lowering blood pressure and preventing heart damage.

7. Several other potential benefits

Although more research is needed, CBD is considered to give the following health benefits:

  • Antipsychotic effects: CBD can help people with schizophrenia and other mental disorders by reducing psychotic symptoms.
  • Combating addiction: CBD has been shown to alter the brain circuits associated with drug addiction. In rats, CBD has been shown to reduce morphine addiction and heroin seeking.
  • Anticancer activity: In animal studies, CBD has demonstrated anticancer activity. It prevents the spread of breast, prostate, brain, colon and lung cancer in animals.
  • Diabetes prevention: CBD treatment in mice with diabetes reduced the incidence of diabetes by 56% and reduced inflammation

Studies show that CBD can be an effective treatment for diabetes, drug use, mental disorders and some types of cancer. But, we need more human studies.
